Video Editing & Motion Graphics Costs
Hourly Rates
Post-production labour costs are generally $35.00 per hour (plus HST).
If we are exceptionally busy, or if the project has an unusually tight deadline, the rate may be as high as $40.00 per hour (plus HST).
Considering the experience and resources that we offer, these rates are highly competitive.
We also offer discount rates to non-profit projects, depending on the deadline and our workload at the time.
Flat Rates
Video editing and motion graphics flat fees are calculated based on the estimated hours to complete a project and we may request a contingency of 15% to 30% if the requirements to complete the project are not entirely clear.
We also like to refer clients to the Project Management Triangle to help us negotiate the most effective flat rate for their project.
Video Editing & Motion Graphics Training Costs
Personalized, one-on-one video editing and video graphics training is $30 per hour at Editextreme.
The daily rate for training for an 8-hour day is $190.00 and includes 7 hours of training with 1 hour of breaks.
We will also train at the trainee’s home for $35 per hour.
Writer, Producer & Field Producer Package Costs
Our team’s Writer / Director / Producer also offers packages to write, produce and direct educational and promotional videos:
- A $2,000.00 flat rate for 4 minute videos, plus $425.00 for each additional minute.
- A $3,000.00 flat rate for 8 minute videos, plus $350.00 for each additional minute.
Project Consultation & Pre-Production Costs
Our rate for project consultations, writing outlines and scripts is $35 per hour.
Web & TV Video Production Costs
Videographer Rates
The day rate for our team’s DOP (Director of Photography) is $400.00 for 4 hours (half day) and $650.00 for 8 hours (full day).
Overtime for our DOP is $100.00 per hour.
Director Rates
The day rate for our team’s Director and Field Producer is $500.00 for 4 hours (half day) and $800.00 for 8 hours (full day).
Overtime rates are $150.00 per hour.
More complex shoots may require additional crews, such as additional camera operators, a location sound technician, or a camera assistant and their rates are available upon request.
Travel Fees
If we are required to travel more than an hour for on-set editing and data transfer, we may charge $30 per hour for travel time.
This will be discussed and negotiated prior to any agreement being made (so you never have to worry about hidden or escalated costs).
Location Video Editing Costs
For a Data Technician and video editing on-location, our rates are $150 for a half day and $250 for a full day.
Travel Fees
If we are required to travel more to provide any of our services, we may charge $30 per hour for travel time.
This will be discussed and negotiated prior to any agreement being made (so you never have to worry about hidden or escalated costs).

Please note that the following rates apply only to customers who are paying a minimum of $30.00 or more.
Video Edits: $1.50 Per Edit
Video Fades & Dissolves: $1.00 Per Effect
Video Titles (with 7 words or less): $3.00 Each
Additional Title Words: $0.10 Each
Video Colour Correction: $5.00 Each
Voice Over Recording: $12.50 Per ½ Hour
Conversion To MP4 With Burnt-In Timecode (BITC): $5.00 Per Hour
Video Editing Suite Time (with assistant video editor): $12.50 Per ½ Hour
